Broken Coast Cannabis Joins the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association

OTTAWA – September 26, 2014

On behalf of its members, the Board of Directors of the Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA) is pleased to announce Broken Coast Cannabis as its newest member.

Based in Nanaimo, BC, Broken Coast Cannabis is a licensed producer (LP) under Health Canada’s Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) which focuses on the production of condition specific medical marihuana.

“Broken Coast is very excited to join the CMCIA. The Association represents an amazing opportunity to work with other industry leaders, and Health Canada, to build and shape the future of medical cannabis in Canada. It’s this kind of cooperation and effort that really has the potential to improve access to quality product for patients, and we’re delighted to be part of it,” said Gisele Rudischer, CEO, Broken Coast Cannabis.

The addition of Broken Coast Cannabis brings the total participation in the CMCIA to 14 members, nine of which are LPs under Health Canada’s MMPR. To be considered for membership, organizations must be either LPs or LP applicants who have received their ready-to-build approval from Health Canada.

CMCIA continues to have constructive on-going dialogue with Health Canada and other key departments and stakeholders to ensure the voice of the regulated medical cannabis industry and their patients are heard. Its mission is to promote national standards and best practices by supporting the development, growth and integrity of the medical cannabis industry.

As the national voice for the medical cannabis industry, CMCIA serves as a credible and trusted resource on important issues related to this important sector for Canadian patients.

CMCIA welcomes all LPs and LP applicants into the national association as the federal government continues to license producers. More information and application forms to join CMCIA can be found at
